Application of surface hardener for warehouse areas

Concrete surfaces are subject to wear and dust over time. By applying FLOMAX® SH 500 (quartz-based) and FLOMAX® SH 550 K (quartz and corundum-based) powder surface hardeners to newly poured concrete, it is possible to obtain surfaces with higher durability, less wear and, moreover, different colors. FLOMAX® SH CURE material should be applied to the surface of the concrete immediately after application in order to protect the concrete and obtain a shining surface.

Surface preparation

Newly poured concrete needs to harden to the point where it can be stepped on and water puddles do not remain on the surface. Surface hardening products should be used immediately after smoothing the surfaces. It is necessary to properly adjust the concrete hardening time; in early applications the hardener may be mixed into the concrete, but in late applications it may not penetrate the concrete at all.

Instructions for use of concrete hardener

FLOMAX® SH 500 or FLOMAX® SH 550 K products are applied as a powder to the pressed and leveled fresh concrete surface, after completely absorbed by the surface, smoothed and polished. Before the material is poured, the cement mixture collected on the surface is spread and the material is sprinkled by placing a flat plate on the polishing machine. 2/3 of the material to be poured should be sprinkled in the first layer. If the material is collected in one place, the collected part is spread evenly over the surface. The material is expected to absorb the concrete's water and give it a watery appearance. At this stage, the material is spread by means of special equipment. Then the rest of the material (1/3) is applied to the surface in the same way. It is continued with polishing knives to obtain a smooth surface. FLOMAX® SH CURE curing agent should be applied immediately after the desired surface appearance is achieved to achieve maximum surface performance.

Curing material can be applied by brush, roller or sprayer. To get the ideal result from the product, the 1st layer should be applied immediately after application and the 2nd layer should be applied after 24 hours.
