Application of ceramic tiles to underfloor heating
Surface preparation
Care must be taken to ensure that the application area is durable, dry, clean, dust-free and suitable for the next steps. The surface must be free of all oil, rust, thick lubricating oil and paraffin residues that will weaken the adhesion, the surface must be free of debris and the surface must be saturated with moisture. Excess iron debris and wood chips must be removed and any gaps must be repaired on the surface two days in advance with a suitable TAMCRETE® repair material. The surface should be primed with UNIVERSAL ASTAR to reduce its absorbency and provide a durable adhesion surface. A positive result of the thermal and leak tests of the underfloor heating system should be ensured. After making sure that there are no cracks or similar problems in the screed concrete used for the heating system, waterproofing and ceramic application should be started.
Application of ceramic tiles and joint filling
Due to temperature changes in underfloor heating systems, CERAMAX® FLEX adhesive must be used, which is resistant to stretching and shrinkage and meets the minimum requirements of class C2 and S1 according to the EN12004-1 standard. For long-lasting joint filler application in wet areas such as bathrooms FUGAMAX® FLEX should be used which is silicone-based, flexible, and antibacterial.
